Laura attended The Art Academy of Cincinnati and Kent State University in Ohio as a Fine Arts Major where she was trained in printmaking to sculpture. It was during that time when she happened upon her first example of candle smoke used in a painting, sometimes referred to as Fumage. Each fumage piece is smoked by holding the flame underneath the board, and images are created by wiping away some of the carbon deposited. This is repeated in layers and layers until the desired effect is reached. She will have many originals, prints and cards for sale.
